Fort Scott's economy is based on both manufacturing and service industries with emphasis on printing, aluminum products, molded belts, clothing manufacturing, health care and insurance. Fort Scott is the headquarters for Key Industries, known globally for their high quality overalls and work clothing. Fort Scott also boasts a strong education base featuring both public and private schools, including Fort Scott Community College which is the longest operating college institution in the State of Kansas.
