Historic Fort Scott

Welcome to Fort Scott, located in the Little Ozarks region of Southeast Kansas. To a growing population of more than 15,000 area residents, Fort Scott offers the best of a centralized world. Sitting majestically above the Little Ozarks and the Marmaton River, our citizens enjoy the simple pleasures of country living. However, being located conveniently within southeast Kansas, we can “reach out and touch” the playgrounds of the Midwest with Branson, Joplin, and Springfield, Missouri just minutes away to the east, and one of the Midwest’s most elegant cities, Kansas City, just minutes to the north.

The natural beauty of Fort Scott and Southeast Kansas comes alive each of the four seasons. You’ll find rolling grasslands highlighted with spring blossoms, summers filled with powder blue skies and golden sunsets, the fresh scent of fall brightened with autumn colors, and an occasional soft covering of snowfall to tastefully appoint the winter celebrations.

The Office of Tourism has put together a convenient resource of fingertip information designed for people interested in relocating or visiting our area. Whether you are relocating or just visiting for a day or weekend, we can accommodate your needs. If you have any questions concerning your upcoming visit, feel free to call us at 800-245-FORT, or email us at the link below. Our goal is to respond to you within 24 hours.

Please accept our invitation to click through these pages and learn why our residents call Fort Scott and Bourbon County their home. Let us help you plan your stay.
