Mercy Health System
Fort Scott has been a center for medical care since the time of the frontier with the building of a hospital as part of the original Fort in 1842. Then, in 1886, the Sisters of Mercy founded Mercy Hospital, which has been providing excellent medical care to the 5-county region since that time. Today, the Mercy Health System of Kansas has embarked on a new and exciting chapter with the construction of Mercy Health Center that has been designed to be a national model of excellence in providing rural health care. The hospital provides comprehensive medical and emergency care and the 28 physicians offer complete care with both specialists and family physicians.
