The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce is a team of spirited and influential members, volunteers and staff involved in every aspect of the community. It is an effective, volunteer non-profit organization committed to helping solve today’s complex business and community problems and providing valuable service to our members. 442 members from across Bourbon County provide the structure, volunteer leadership, professional staff and full-time office operation to implement an effective program to meet the needs of our community.

Striving to increase prosperity and economic stability within the area, the Chamber works with the Bourbon County Economic Development Council, the City of Fort Scott, the Bourbon County Commission and other regional development agencies to facilitate growth to existing businesses and the recruitment of new business and industry. More than fifteen volunteer committees serve to enhance community growth.

Services to members include:

• Business referrals – Over 10,000 business referrals are given to member businesses each year by phone and mail.
• Legislative Representation – Every legislative session is focused on issues that are important to our businesses and our community, always keeping members apprised of new issues affecting them.
• Networking Opportunities – Over 100 annual opportunities to network and to showcase business plus two listings in the membership directory.
• Business Assistance – Members expertise is drawn upon to give other members assistance with business problems and training.
• Marketing Programs – The City of Fort Scott and the Chamber’s Tourism Committee conduct a marketing program to increase visitation and visibility to tourists, potential new residents and potential new businesses throughout the region.
